We don't teach grammar or spelling, we don't hand out mandatory writing assignments, and we don't give grades. Instead, we create an environment for you to explore your own writing. In twice-daily writing sessions, our faculty provides exercises for inspiration and a framework for critique and growth.

Writing groups are as likely to meet outside in the woods or by the river as they are to meet in the lodge. Our exercises challenge and inspire, focusing on process as much as product. We seek to draw out each camper's individual writing voice on his or her own terms.
But Young Writers Camp isn't just for people who already love to write. It's for any high school-age student who wants to explore his or her creativity in a truly unique setting, and to meet other kindred spirits. For one week, we eat together, live together, and write together in the foothills of the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming. The relationships that we form at camp last an entire lifetime——including our relationship with ourselves.
